5 top trends for 2024 according to Pinterest Predicts
The social photo-sharing platform Pinterest has unveiled the trends that are set to dominate in 2024. We take a look at five trends that will be part of our daily lives over the coming months, ranging from fashion and home decoration to music.
By studying the most popular trends on its platform, Pinterest has provided a global vision of consumer expectations in 2024. These trends, linked to certain societal and aesthetic movements, are popular with the general public and advertisers alike.
Jazzy
Gone are the days of rap, electro and pop. In 2024, GenZ and Millenials will be particularly attracted to jazz. Elegant with a vintage feel, this trend is reflected in clothing and ideas for going out. Searches for the term “aesthetic jazz outfit” have increased by 180%, “jazz piano” by 105% and “jazz club outfit” by 65%.
The suit is the essential ally of this movement, with a dandy side that you can claim without hesitation. Retro lamps, vinyl record holders and velvet furniture with rounded lines are also worth mentioning. It’s enough to recreate the hushed atmosphere of a jazz club, with its dark green and red colours and mahogany wood, to the rhythm of a saxophone.
Jellyfish
After cowboycore and barbiecore, it’s time for the jellyfish aesthetic. “Jellyfish haircut”, characterised by a two-stage gradient, increased its popularity by 615%. “Jellyfish umbrella”, “Jellyfish lamp” and “Jellyfish hat” saw respective increases in searches of 195%, 95% and 220%.
The tentacular era stands out for its organic style, energised by a touch of the ocean and its undulating curves. With wave-like manicures, wispy clothes and pastel decorations all in waves, this trend combines delicacy with elegance, like the movements of a pretty jellyfish.
XXL fashion
In 2024, fashion accessories will be oversized! Jewellery, haircuts and sunglasses will be XXL, voluminous, even oversized. Discretion is no longer an option, as shown by the 45% increase in searches for “thick creoles”, the 75% increase in searches for “jewellery-sculptures” and the 230% increase in searches for “voluminous buns”.
Get out your most beautiful scrunchies, your big clips in your hair, let your curls express themselves and dress up your ears with your biggest pairs.
Skin pot
This trend will appeal to all generations. Wellness, spa and skincare are very popular with the public, with searches up 245% for “Moisturising cream aesthetic”, 1025% for “Body care routine” and 60% for “Spa aesthetic”.
Creams, scrubs, serums, bath bombs… Taking care of your body is as fashionable as ever, all in a bathroom that invites you to relax.
Confidence for confidence
Confidence, revealing vulnerability and talking about deep subjects will be the watchwords of 2024. Younger generations are turning away from trivial conversations in favour of more powerful discussions.
These truer, more solid human relationships are reflected on Pinterest by a 480% increase in searches for “Questions to reconnect with your partner”, an 825% increase in searches for “Daring questions”, a 185% increase in searches for “Deep topics to break the ice” and a 40% increase in searches for “Emotional intimacy”.
