Emmys Awards : Zendaya makes history
Last night, Los Angeles hosted the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony, the Oscars of American television. An exceptional awards ceremony, marked by the memorable victory of Zendaya.
After already being the youngest recipient of the Best Actress award in 2000, she became, 6 years later, the first to receive her second Emmy at such a young age. Zendaya is also the first black woman to win the Best Actress Emmy twice. The rising star of the small (and big) screen continues her rise in Hollywood.
Her second Emmy is for her performance as a drug-addicted teenager, via the character Rue, in the OCS series Euphoria.
An emotional speech
With tears in her eyes and a trembling voice, the actress made a touching speech on stage last night: “My greatest wish for Euphoria is that the series will help heal people.
In particular, she paid tribute to those who suffer from addiction: “I just want to say thank you to everyone who shared their stories with me, to everyone who feels close to Rue. I carry your stories with me every day.” She also thanked the academy, the entire team of the show as well as all her loved ones.
To climb the steps and walk the red carpet of this ceremony, the young actress, styled in a voluminous ponytail, chose a majestic black dress Valentino.
The other big winners of the Emmys
In addition to this memorable double of Zendaya, other series and actors distinguished themselves during this ceremony. The HBO series Succession was voted best drama series. While the famous South Korean series Squid Game entered the history of the competition, especially with an award for best actor for the main protagonist, Lee Jung-jae.
Among the mini-series, the White Lotus dominated the evening with 10 awards, including the best production of the genre.
