Super Bowl 2023: Rihanna shone like a diamond
It’s a comeback for Rihanna, the interplanetary star. After years of absence, the singer decided to make her comeback, all dressed in red, during the halftime of the Super Bowl.
Rihanna is back! After seven years of absence on the music scene, the Barbados-born artist dazzled the stage of the 57th edition of the Super Bowl, which was held this Sunday live from the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
It must be said that the star was as much awaited by the public, if not more, than the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
His entrance was as spectacular as the rest of the show. It is on a transparent platform, perched above the stadium that she arrived, opening the ball with her song Bitch Better have my money. After a few minutes in the air, she came back down and the show continued, with all her most iconic tracks, from Where Have you been to Diamond through Work and Umbrella.

If Rihanna chose this gigantic stadium for her comeback, it’s not by chance. Attracting 72,000 visitors and 200,000 million viewers worldwide, the Super Bowl is the second most watched event on the planet, after the World Cup of soccer. The singer had refused this show a first time in 2019. If she accepted this year, it is in order to “represent black women“.
“The Super Bowl is one of the most important stages in the world. As scary as it can be, as I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there is something exhilarating about this challenge,” she said last Thursday during a media presentation.
And to mark even more the spirits, Rihanna has not only revealed the extent of her talents, but also a rounded belly. The star has indeed chosen the Super Bowl to announce to the world her second pregnancy. A news that delighted her fans and saddened others, complaining on social networks that the star would not do a tour soon.
A total look couture and tribute
In addition to her high-flying performance (it is the case to say it), Rihanna played the fashion card, offering a show outfit as radiant as her personality and her performance.
With the help of her stylist, Jaheel Weaver, a key figure in the fashion world, Rihanna appeared in a total red look, with a special meaning.
She was dressed in a red cotton jumpsuit signed Loewe by Jonathan Anderson. The set was accompanied by a bustier and a turtleneck, also signed by the Spanish designer. To complete her couture-streetwear look, the singer chose a pair of sneakers signed Maison Martin Margiela x Salomon, also red.
On the beauty side, it is obviously with her Fenty range that Rihanna was made up. Her mouth was covered with a dark carmine lipstick and her bright red lacquered nails finalized her look. For a little nod to her brand, she came back holding a white Fenty palette, the same color as the dancers’ outfit.

Another detail of her outfit has marked the spirits: a watch Jacob & Co. That is, the Brilliant Skeleton Northern Lights Rose Gold Red model, set with 323 diamonds, with a red dial and a white strap.
Towards the end of her performance, after more than 10 minutes of songs following each other at lightning speed, the look of the artist took a dimension more than symbolic. She replaced her short Alaïa down jacket with another one, this time ultra long and oversized from the same brand, which reminded the famous red Norma Kamali coat from André Leon Talley.
This was not just a simple change of jacket or artistic choice. It was a marked tribute to the editor of American Vogue André Leon Talley, who died in 2019 at the age of 73. Great friend of the singer, this one was known for his flashy and extravagant looks.
Between fantastic performance, official announcement and emotion, Rihanna made a remarkable return. Her fans, who had missed her a lot, are now hoping that her next statement will announce a world tour.
