Cannes Film Festival 2023: the most talked-about looks of the 76th edition
The Cannes Film Festival is all about cinema, then fashion. If this event rhymes with the 7th art, the red carpet rhymes with couture, audacity and surprises. For this 76th edition, some celebrities have dared, unveiled, but above all, marked the Cannes Festival with their outfits. Discover your luxus + magazine’s selection of five of these most beautiful looks!
A number of stars stood out with their looks at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Sequins, prints, costumes and haute couture were all on display. Luxus plus has selected some of the most striking looks, although dozens of others also dazzled with their beauty and extravagance.
Brie Larson: short-lived princess
The actress and Festival juror dazzled more than one person throughout the festivities. Best known for her role as Captain Marvel, this superwoman chose a Chanel dress, all layered, for her first appearance on the palace steps. Embroidered with brown and ochre pearls, with a satin veil in the same tones, this singular gown suited her to perfection. To accompany the outfit, she opted for gold jewelry, in perfect harmony with the ensemble. Her blond, almost gold-colored hair gave her the look of a princess, just for a moment. From superheroine to superstar, there’s clearly only one step.
Fan Bingbing: one breath and she’s off!
This year, Asian actresses and celebrities were the stars of the festival. Fan Bingbing, for her part, is getting used to the Cannes red carpet. Always radiant and dazzling during her visits to the Côte d’Azur, this year she chose dresses in the spirit of flora & fauna, as original as they were beautiful. For the closing ceremony, she appeared in a George Hobeika Haute Couture outfit. It was embellished with hundreds of shaded feathers. Black, gray and then blue, these colors sublimated both the look and the actress. The skirt was made up of several very pronounced pleats, reminiscent of a real bird’s wings. Fan Bingbing, bravo for this sublime look!
Elsa Hosk: when the paparazzi see double
The Swedish model with her Barbie looks surprised and delighted the festival and photographers alike. Invited to a film screening on May 24, she grazed the red carpet in an outfit chosen from Viktor & Rolf’s latest Haute Couture collection. Known for its eccentric, offbeat designs, the label had once again risen to the challenge, unveiling double looks that were clearly a hit. Elsa Hosk opted for a sky-blue tulle gown with a strapless top superimposed on a flesh-colored corset. Like an optical illusion, this outfit had already caused a sensation at the Dutch duo’s Spring-Summer show, and continues to attract attention off the catwalk. A surprising and offbeat choice (so to speak) that works.
Ikram Abdi: phenomenal in Nina Ricci
Imposing, radiant or even splendid, there are many adjectives that could describe the allure of model Ikram Abdi. To perfect her looks on the red carpet, she chose outfits from the House of Nina Ricci, designed by Harris Reed, in charge of artistic direction since September 2022. Known for his XXL clothing and accessories collections, the red-haired designer once again revealed his talent. The model’s strongest look was made up of three spectacular pieces: a trapeze dress, a hat and a choker in the shape of a flower. The giant rose added a touch of color to this striped, two-tone, sequined look.
Adèle Exarchopoulos: black is black
The talented young actress with the deep voice has been a regular at the Cannes Film Festival for many years. In addition to her new hair color, she’s been making a name for herself on the red carpet with increasingly glamorous and fashionable outfits. The latest? A black Valentino total look. It consisted of a black crop shirt, accompanied by a perfectly knotted tie and wide-leg pants. The little extra? An impressive hooded cape. To complete her look, she opted for jewels set with precious stones from the House of Bulgari. Once again, the heroine of La vie d’Adèle brought Cannes to its feet.
