Skiwear: five ultra-luxe collections to hit the slopes this winter
With winter sports holidays already booked or in the planning stages for snow lovers, the luxury fashion houses are unveiling their latest lines for hitting the slopes in the most beautiful resorts and relaxing after the effort.
Down jackets, coats, wetsuits, accessories… With the start of the ski season just around the corner, warm winter sportswear is making its way into shops and online. Focus on five collections that are as stylish as they are practical.
Balenciaga’s first skiwear collection
In mid-November, Balenciaga will launch its very first line dedicated to skiing. To capture a share of this buoyant market, Balenciaga has revisited some of its basics, such as the Puffer down jacket, while developing more technical pieces. These include creations that incorporate a battery charger and removable gloves. Equipment is also part of the range, including a snowboard, skis and ski poles bearing the Louis Vuitton logo.
Skiing in Louis Vuitton
As it does every year, the LVMH Group’s flagship brand is unveiling its extensive range of clothing and accessories for winter sports. A down jacket and trousers printed with an Ice motif like the relief of the mountains, jogging suits with a blue logo and red and white stripes, a wool cardigan evoking “mountain peaks under a starry winter sky”… Everything you need to ski and relax by the fire in total Louis Vuitton style.
Winter sports elegance by Balmain
For its winter capsule, Balmain opted for chic, feminine silhouettes. Among the most iconic pieces are the immaculate white trousers and down jacket, accompanied by the brown monogrammed chapka with white faux fur. The perfect way to melt into the snow in Courchevel, or any other luxury resort, in style.
Coco Neige by Chanel
Pink, black, white and beige are the flagship colours of this new winter collection launched by the Maison de la rue Cambon. Highlighted by an advertising campaign inspired by the world of ice skating, it features a host of elegant details, symbols of chic “à la Chanel”. These include a sleeveless waistcoat in fuchsia pink satin, patent black ankle boots topped with pop pink fur, and a skin-tight jumpsuit in iridescent gold stretch jersey.
Mountain specialist Moncler
It’s impossible to talk about skiwear without mentioning the iconic outwear brand Moncler. The brand has brought out a number of new items that are ideal for the snow, including Gaia Pocket boots that rise above the knee, Trail Grip GTX sneakers with notched soles, and a pencil skirt, waistcoat and top in moulded black and white wool for a restaurant night out on the slopes. Moncler’s wide range of technical down jackets will suit all tastes and needs.
