78th Monaco Grand Prix: a great weekend
After its cancellation in 2020, the curious and Formula 1 fans will be able to witness the return of the legendary Monaco Grand Prix this year. Take a look at the luxurious aspects of this historic circuit, which will start on Thursday, May 20th of 2021.
The 78th Monaco Grand Prix: a unique race bathed in the Monegasque luxury. This makes it one of the most eagerly awaited and popular annual sporting events on the Formula 1 calendar. With the four-day race, the public will be able to enjoy the Formula 1 and 2 practice and qualifying sessions on Thursday and Friday, which will take place on the city circuit. Testing and qualifying will continue on Saturday with several races scheduled. Finally, Sunday will host the drivers’ parade, the lap of honour by LL.AA.SS, the Prince and Princess of Monaco and the long awaited 78th Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix race.
The sides of the race
To watch this mythical race in the best possible conditions, there are several choices available. You will have to pay around €4,900 for a weekend for two if you want to watch it from a flat to rent overlooking the track with its terrace or from a 5-star hotel room such as the Fairmont or the Hôtel de Paris, offering one of the best views of the circuit. Watching the race from a yacht is also possible: it costs €128,000 a day to moor your own yacht in the Monaco port but guarantees you a unique and memorable experience.
However, for those who just want to watch the race without spending too much money, it will be possible to watch it from the circuit’s grandstands, with a capacity this year set at 7,500 spectators because of Covid-19.
If the Monaco Grand Prix is a synonymous of luxury in every aspect, this even extends to the trophy. The winner of the race will receive a trophy signed by Louis Vuitton. Indeed, the luxury brand has partnered with the Monaco Grand Prix to create a trophy and its box to hold the cup signed Louis Vuitton. The trophy was designed with references to the race, the famous Louis Vuitton (LV) monogram and the colours of the Monegasque flag, the Principality where the race takes place.
Added to this, this weekend in Monaco is a perfect opportunity to party alongside billionaires, racing car drivers and company directors, especially as, despite the health regulations still in force, the public will be able to take advantage of the bars, restaurants and casinos that will be open until 11pm in some, and until 7pm in others.
Haute couture at the Monaco Grand Prix
In addition to the Formula 1 race, a parallel event will take place in Monaco on the 21th of May, the Monaco Grand Prix haute couture show, Amber Lounge. This is a not-to-be-missed event where the big names in haute couture and all the drivers taking part in the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix usually gather, not forgetting the presence of the Princely Family. On the occasion of this fashion show, the young designer of Corsican origin, Iness Bensalah, was selected to present her new Haute Couture collection at the opening of this prestigious event. Iness Bensalah, who created a sensation in the Principality of Monaco in 2019, receiving an award at the Monte Carlo Fashion Week, is back this year, eager to unveil her new collection ‘Swimwear luxury Monte Carlo Hills SS21’.
