For its 23rd edition, Art Paris offers itself the Grand Palais Ephémère
The major fair devoted to modern and contemporary art opens its doors at the Grand Palais Ephémère from September 9 to 12, 2021. The opportunity to allow the public to come and discover or rediscover nearly 900 artists from all over the world.
After its 2020 edition, Art Paris reopens its doors on the Champ-de-Mars. For this twenty-third edition, no less than nine hundred artists from all walks of life will be exhibited in one hundred and forty galleries over the four days of the fair. The speciality of this edition is the high proportion of newcomers who will be exhibiting for the first time, such as the galleries Frank Elbaz or Karim Mennour, who will rub shoulders with regulars of the event such as François Malingrëy or Marcela Barceló.
French artists are of course also honored, if only by the main theme of the event. This year, the organizers have decided that it will be “Portrait and Figuration. A look at the French scene‘”. According to Hervé Mikaeloff, this is a look at the French scene, using the portrait as an anchor in our relationship to humanity.
A selection of works by some twenty artists will allow the public to question the exercise of the portrait, as well as the renewal of figurative painting in France. “It is from the face that we can consider the way of thinking about the relationship with others, behind the face of the other, there is all the humanity“, explains Hervé Mikaeloff.
Other galleries are also worth a look, especially those devoted to monographic exhibitions, as well as to new talents, young galleries and emerging creation, to show the public the developments in modern and contemporary arts, and thus give a showcase to these new visions.
The great Art Paris fair is an opportunity for the public to reconnect with a part of the cultural world after a year and a half of pandemic during which the worlds of art and culture have particularly suffered. The organizers had to face another challenge than the one of the respect of sanitary measures: the one of the accessibility for a large public which is not used to go to this kind of event. To do this, many tools such as virtual tours from the fair’s website as well as decipherments in partnership with the Observatoire de l’Art Contemporain, have been put in place.
This event will continue until Sunday 12 included, the ticketing is still open.
