The Super Bowl, huge and crazy event of the year
This year, the Cincinnati Bengals will take on the Los Angeles Rams in America’s beloved Super Bowl. Are you ready to experience it?
Ticket prices for this Sunday’s Super Bowl game between the Rams and Bengals in Los Angeles are sky high. And while the Rams and their fans don’t have to travel far, as the game is being played in the team’s stadium, Cincinnati fans will have to make the trip to Los Angeles to see the game in person.
Americans call the seats at the top of a stadium “nosebleeds,” referring to the nosebleeds that can occur at altitude. The expression takes on a whole new meaning in the face of sky-high ticket prices for Super Bowl 56, which takes place this Sunday. Earlier this week, on the Seatgeek resale site, the cheapest ticket was $5,601 (€4,900), plus another $304 (€265) for parking a mile from the stadium.
“Ten percent of the population can afford to go to the games, the rest watch TV,” says Stanford economist Roger Noll. For what is widely considered the biggest night in sports, the game is usually an expensive event.
Best deals
Some sites offer deals on booking certain hotels or flights, but the cost of the event is still very significant.
For example, the site Click2Houston lists the best restaurants for the game, with great deals like Papa John’s and its “New NY-Style Pizza” starting at $13 or Abuelo’s restaurant with an offer of fajitas, enchiladas or tacos with family menus that can feed up to six people and start at $48.19.
On the other side, the CNN Underscored site lists the best hotels and flights for the day of the game, arguing that Los Angeles is a city with many accommodation options.

He also advises leveraging loyalty points and miles to get a free stay, as is possible at the Tommie Hollywood. This property, which is part of the World of Hyatt program, charges 15,000 Hyatt points per night. For a three-night stay, you’ll have to pay 45,000 Hyatt points. Otherwise, the hotel charges more than $1,000 per night.
At the Hilton Los Angeles Airport, a standard night costs you 40,000 points, which means a two-night stay, Saturday through Monday, costs 80,000 Honors points. Without that, one has to shell out by less than $1,162.56 for the same two-night stay.
One thing is for sure, the experience of living the Super Bowl live with all the artifice that it includes is a unique thing. But in this case, you should not hesitate to put your hand in the wallet, or you should opt to watch the game and its mythical commercials from the comfort of your living room.
