Back to childhood for the Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2023 men’s show
Presented in the square courtyard of the Louvre, the Louis Vuitton fashion show, as part of the Paris Fashion Week for Men, was able to awaken the imagination of its spectators.
Louis Vuitton presented a show under the sign of creativity for the Men Paris Fashion Week. It was also a show without an artistic director for the French luxury house on June 22. Indeed, since the death of Virgil Abloh, no successor in sight because Michael Burke, the president of the brand, prefers to take time. It was therefore realized by the internal studio, inspired by the imprint left by the American designer.
For the occasion, the entire Arnault family appeared, as well as Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, singer Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, as well as Kendrick Lamar (who sang during the fashion show). Among the front rows were also the French actor Tahar Rahim, Omar Sy, who came with his daughter Selly Sy, and the singer Eddy de Pretto.
Back to childhood
The spring-summer 203 collection, entitled “Strange Math” once again emphasized creativity and craftsmanship, through the notion of imagination. The scene deployed represented a child’s game, figuring the relationship to creativity nurtured from an early age.
The show opened with a performance by the Marching 100 band from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, before giving way to the runway show and some 70 silhouettes. The flower is declined in several forms and colors: printed version on a long coat, in all-over on a suit, or in the form of buttons.
The cuts are very loose, from the jacket in the 80s to very wide pants, without weighing down the silhouette. Black gives way to pop colors in the form of crochet or fur pockets that stand out.
The accessories also made a statement with a leather bag in the shape of a truck, some kind of “pendants” affixed to the suits or even the textured bags with the Louis Vuitton monogram. The show closed with the return of the models, some of whom wore a long piece of fabric in the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag, a nod to Virgil Abloh’s very first show for Louis Vuitton.
