“Dior en roses”, the exhibition-event in Granville

Starting June 5, the Christian Dior Museum invites you to the designer’s family villa in Granville to discover the sacred bond between the founder of the house and his favourite source of inspiration, the rose.

In the Christian Dior villa in Granville, the exhibition “Dior in Roses” will be held from June 5 to October 31, 2021. Located in the town where the designer grew up, the exhibition offers an immersion in the origins of the famous French fashion house.

From his first steps in the world of fashion, Christian Dior drew his inspiration from flowers, and more particularly from his beloved roses. As a tribute to this delicate flower, the exhibition is spread over fourteen rooms on the three floors of the villa.

The Granville Garden and its spectacular rose bed will bloom just in time to amaze visitors. To capture the importance of the rose in the brand’s DNA, the Christian Dior Museum exhibition is the perfect place.

For Christian Dior, the female silhouette can be compared to a flower with its “busts in full bloom, waists as thin as vines and skirts as wide as corollas“. The emblematic perfume of the house, Miss Dior, released in 1947, draws its inspiration directly from the essence of these petals. Finally, the rose “Dioressence” is named after the perfume Dioressence, released in 1979.

It is the mother of the designer, Madeleine Dior, who is at the origin of her son’s love for roses. Indeed, during the designer’s early childhood, his mother had a rose garden planted in the private garden of the villa Les Rhumbs. The young Christian particularly liked to play in this rose garden, intoxicated by a scent that would become inseparable from his creativity.

To dive into the family intimacy of the Granville villa, go to the pre-opening on May 21. The exhibition will run from June 5 to October 31, 2021. More information on the Christian Dior Museum website.
