This year it’s the 90’s making a comeback during Italian Fashion Week; among casual looks, grunges, denims and more, here are the iconic autumn pieces of this retro fashion season.
The 90s then took the form of clogs, jeans, pullover waistcoats, all revisited in a more attractive style adapted to our generation. Whether Victoria Beckham, Victor Li or Princess Diana, these celebrities were able to see the timelessness of these pieces.
Created in the 70s, it was during the 90s that clogs experienced a considerable renaissance, and the phenomenon is happening again. Designers such as Veronica Beard and Victor Glemaud adopted the trend and presented them in their wardrobe.
The late 1980s, the 1990s were considerably marked by woollen waistcoats, whose popularity only increased with its adoption in Princess Diana’s wardrobe. This piece is extremely adaptable to others, whether it is superimposed on a dress, a shirt, under a jacket, with a skirt or jeans. PH5, Jason Wu and many others have made the piece their own.
This autumn, designers have used denim in a much more sophisticated way than in the form of simple jeans. A timeless style, it appears in the shadow of the retro years, now in the form of boots, dresses, shirts, overalls and much more. Thanks to Victoria Beckham and Victor Li for his return to the spotlight.
It is not only traditional velvet that is highlighted this autumn, but also crushed velvet. This material was omnipresent at the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s, it lit up the outfits with its many colourful shades. This season, it gives a modern touch to the lines of Batsheva, Collina Strada, etc…
Finally, grunge, which played a significant role in the 1990s, is also represented during this fashion week. Designers such as Rosetta Getty and Staud are taking part in its return, this time handling it in a more romantic way: maxi dresses, layered slippers and tailored silhouettes in a mix of media and check patterns.
