Paris : Louis Vuitton and Chopard present their new Haute Joaillerie collection
The luxury houses Louis Vuitton and Chopard present their Haute Joaillerie collections on the occasion of the Paris Haute Couture week.
Bravery Chapter II: Louis Vuitton pays tribute to its founder
Louis Vuitton celebrates the bicentennial of its creator’s birth with the unveiling of the Haute Joaillerie collection, Bravery Chapitre II. This collection highlights its legendary creation: the trunk and its iconic features, the luggage invented by Louis Vuitton in 1854.
Comprising four themes, Multipin, Magnetism, Mini Trunk and Cocktail Rings, the collection features necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings, and includes 20 exceptional pieces of jewellery.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton Jewellery and Watches, is reviving the House’s iconic luggage by creating jewellery pieces set with coloured stones and diamonds carefully selected by Louis Vuitton.
This jewellery range will consist of a necklace, two pairs of earrings and four voluptuous rings. From green tourmaline to blue aquamarine and purple tanzanite, more than a hundred coloured stones have been used to create these unique jewels.
All are reminiscent of the clasp on Louis Vuitton trunks, resplendent with the many stones used.
Magnetism, the second family of jewelry in this collection, is composed of a necklace adorned with pink, orange and yellow tourmalines and a central sapphire, totaling 152.86 carats of stones.
Three rings set with a sapphire and tourmalines will complete the jewellery range.
Mini Malle, the third family will be composed of a bracelet, a jewellery watch and a flagship piece: the monochrome set. Made of white gold and diamonds, the collection is composed of diamond-paved chains and enhanced with Monogram flower-cut diamonds. It features three Mini Trunks adorned with three LV Monogram Star diamonds. This piece of jewellery is therefore obviously reminiscent of the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk.
Finally, Cocktail rings, the last family of the Haute Joaillerie collection is composed of four rings. A special feature of these rings is that they feature brilliant-cut central coloured stones. Louis Vuitton has placed a 1.30-carat Padparadscha sapphire, a dazzling 1.34-carat Mozambique ruby, a 2.09-carat Madagascar cerulean sapphire and a 1.34-carat green demantoid garnet on these rings.
“The Bravery collection is a metaphor for Louis Vuitton’s life journey. In the first part presented in June, we discussed the different stages of the journey he undertook. Today, we celebrate the culmination of that journey, the invention of the trunk with all of its constituent elements. It is a new Louis Vuitton signature that we are introducing into Haute Joaillerie,” said Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton Jewellery and Watches.
Chopard unveils exceptional stones
Chopard, the luxury jewellery house, also presented a selection of exceptional stones at the Paris Haute Couture Week.
Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie, renowned for its expertise and creativity, is back in 2022, under the impetus of Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard.
Inspired by Nature, the latter reveals the selection of four exceptional gemstones from the four corners of the world. This collection brings together several precious stones, including a Caroline pink diamond and a Chopard Insofu emerald.
For Haute Couture Week, Chopard is presenting an extraordinary discovery: the Chopard Insofu emerald. Insofu means “elephant” in the Bemba language, the local ethnic group in the emerald’s region of origin, and this exceptional stone was discovered in Zambia, in the Kagem mine. It is one of the largest emeralds ever found in the world, with a total of 6,225 carats. This treasure of rare purity and quality will give birth to a future Haute Joaillerie collection, composed of unique cut stones.
“It is very touching to be confronted with the beauty and mystery of such a treasure collected from the depths of the Earth, formed millions of years ago and brought to us to be finally sublimated by the hand of craftsmen who will reveal all its beauty and retranscribe the emotions it generates,” says Caroline Scheufele.
In the family of coloured stones, pink diamonds are among the rarest hues. Some diamonds have colours that can be described as fancy intense, thus multiplying their rarity. With a total of 10.88 carats, this stone has been named Rose de Caroline, in homage to the woman who gave birth to jewellery and Haute Joaillerie at Chopard.
Pink recalls the colour of the diamond but also a flower dear to the director of Haute Joaillerie, obviously recalling Nature, central to this collection.
