In winter, the region is decked out in snow and the fresh breeze makes the white-tinted branches of the trees dance. In summer, the colours of the village are revealed alongside the blue of the water and the lush flowers. Focus on the most beautiful hotels on the shores of Lake Annecy, to discover in every season.
Nestling in the forest, facing the blue expanse and the mountains, this hotel on Lake Annecy boasts pretty gardens and a terrace by the pool overlooking the region. Enjoy the view from the one-star La Rotonde des Trésoms restaurant, with its large picture windows, and the contemporary L’Atelier restaurant.
This Art Deco chalet from the 1930s has 52 rooms, some with balconies. The rooms on the forest side are adorned with large portraits from the Art Nouveau period, while the accommodation on the lake side was renovated in 2022. All in shades of yellow, blue and cream with retro motifs. Two villas with private pools are also available. There’s also a spa with a balneotherapy pool, steam room, sauna and seven treatment rooms.
For a confidential stay, head for this charming wood-beamed boutique hotel with 11 rooms, five of which are located in the old village school, with panoramic views of the Alps. This five-star hotel Relais & Châteaux also boasts a magnificent garden where the soul of the building meets nature.
But the Clos des Sens is best known for the three Michelin stars and one green star awarded to chef Laurent Petit. In a setting of Savoy stone, cut crystal and wooden elements, the restaurant offers plant and lake cuisine, with menus to match food and wine or food and juice. Here, freshwater fish, Savoyard flavours and local plants take pride of place. The temporary Le Cortil restaurant, with its tables in the gravel in the heart of the gardens, offers generous dishes to share and beautiful grilled dishes.
Nestling almost with its feet in the water, the Auberge du Père Bise stands like a home where you could feel alone in the world, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This five-star hotel is as warm as it is friendly, with a magnificent spa bathed in light thanks to its large windows, ideal for swimming in the pool overlooking the lake and mountains. The rooms and suites are modern and cosy, opening onto an idyllic landscape.
This family-run restaurant is renowned for its culinary delights. Jean Sulpice’s two-star restaurant offers dishes that are rooted in their region and draw their essence from the characterful produce of the Savoy mountains and the gentle waters of the lake. It’s a unique and delicate restaurant that you should book with your eyes closed. Le 1903 dares to be a little simpler without losing any of its superb character.
Located in Veyrier-du-Lac, north-east of Lake Annecy, this five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel is a nineteenth-century mansion with a blue façade. It boasts a private pontoon where you can enjoy a wide range of water sports. In addition to its exceptional architecture, the Maison Bleue is renowned for La Table de Yoann Conte, a two-star restaurant that puts the spotlight on raw, local produce. The Le Roc restaurant, with its terrace facing the lake, offers generous dishes to share.
From the walls to the ceilings and the furniture, the rooms feature wood, a natural element that blends perfectly with the breathtaking views of the lake and mountains visible from the balconies. And for a moment of indulgence, head to the Norwegian bath and panoramic sauna.
A little further south of the lake, Le Palace de Menthon boasts architecture worthy of the palaces of the early 20th century. With its panoramic Art Deco and modern restaurant, fully-equipped spa, elegant rooms, unusual suites and private villa with its feet in the water, this five-star hotel set in sublime gardens is the only establishment on the shores of Lake Annecy with a private port and direct access to the beach.
It’s easy to imagine descending the grand staircases and strolling along the water’s edge, facing the region’s majestic mountains.
