The Sormani restaurant : the unmissable tavola in the 17th arrondissement of Paris
Located on rue Général Lanrezac, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, a stone’s throw from the Place de l’Étoile, the restaurant Sormani is distinguished by its chic and refined interior. The gastronomic menu featuring Italian delicacies such as white truffles and homemade tiramisu promises a real taste treat.
Franck Potier Sodaro has been at the helm of Sormani for three years now. He started out as a trainee sommelier at Philippe Faure Brac’s Bistrot du Sommelier and then went on to work as a sommelier at the Bristol when he met Pascal Fayet, the ebullient owner of Sormani, who offered him the opportunity to create the wine list for his Parisian establishment from scratch. The Italian wine list has been enriched with 500 references from all regions of Italy and the best French regions, including the Montecucco Rosso Riserva 2015 “Collemassari” and Romanée Conti. Franck has indeed been immersed in an Italian atmosphere having himself a Calabrian mother and a French father.
When he bought the restaurant from his mentor, Pascal Fayet, in 2019, the dream finally became reality. He keeps the team and decides to perpetuate the soul of the place which has seen many personalities from all over the world. The chef, Vincent Gutierrez, is an ace in his field and the pastry chef, Pascal Staderoli, often tries out new creations. When you come to Sormani, you will always have new proposals to taste. Thanks to the whole team behind Franck, you will feel at home.
The cosy decoration, the magnificent Murano chandeliers, the Limoges crockery, the 2 beautiful dining rooms on the ground floor, the 2 lounges that can accommodate 4 to 18 people, including the private lounge just opposite, is an alternative for intimate or confidential meetings.
The menu is rich and all the products are fresh and in season. For starters, there is sea bass in carpaccio, bottarga or lemon scented crab ; for the main course, linguine with scampi sautéed in garlic, roasted tomatoes and basil or roasted lobster, aubergines, artichokes and peperonata; for dessert, Sormani tiramisu, coffee biscuits and homemade caramel ice cream or gigantesco, vanilla ice cream, meringue and nougatine.
Franck Potier Sodaro has succeeded in his challenge. To keep Sormani alive beyond the 21st century. To make the ephemeral unforgettable because it is the hand that transforms the idea. You have to be excellent at the right time : making people happy is Franck’s credo.
Sormani is open from Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner, at 4 rue du général Lanrezac, Paris 17. Reservations at 01 43 80 13 91 or 06 70 93 22 15.
